TVKC Welcomes You!

Our goal is to further the advancement of all breeds of purebred dogs, to conduct dog shows, agility trials, obedience trials, tracking tests, and sanctioned matches under the rules of the American Kennel Club. We also strive to protect and advance the interests of all breeds of purebred dogs and to demonstrate sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, agility trials, obedience trials, and tracking trials. Through these efforts we hope to provide educational opportunities to the public on all aspects of dog ownership.

TVKC Classes Open to Mixed Breed Dogs

TVKC classes have always been open to all breeds and mixed breed dogs. Beginning April 1, 2010, AKC made the decision to allow affiliated clubs to open their performance events to dogs with a Canine Partners AKC registration number to compete in the same Agility, Obedience, and Rally Obedience classes as dogs with an AKC, ILP, or PAL registration number. Go to www. akc.org and click on Canine Partners to find information on this new AKC program.

The TVKC May All-Breed Dog Show is Coming!

See breeds from Afghans to Xolos compete in the conformation ring, and see purebred dogs go head-to-head with mixed breeds for honors in obedience and rally!

The 4 shows and 4 obedience trials and 4 rally trials will run on May 27, 9:00 AM to about 2 PM; May 28, 8:00 AM to about 8:00 PM (2 shows and 4 trials on one day) and May 29, 9:00 AM to about 2:00 PM. All shows are at the Borealis Building on the Fairgrounds. Tickets can be purchased at the entry to the show grounds: $5 adults, $10 family, children younger than 6 free with an adult.
Please leave un-entered dogs at home! They are not allowed on the show grounds and it can get very hot very fast in your parked vehicle.

New wrinkle this year! Did you know that technically speaking each day is a separate dog show? Well, this year we are going to offer two shows on Sunday, back-to-back! So if you are competing for a title your dog will get four chances to qualify on the weekend, instead of three. That's why on Sunday the show will start earlier (8:00 AM) and end later (about 8:00 PM) than on Saturday or Monday (9:00 to about 2:00).

We'll post more information here closer to the event, including the judging schedule, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, if you have a show-related question please send it to Becky Gatterdam our hardworking show chair. If you would like to volunteer to help at the show please let Becky know. It takes a lot of hands to make this dog show happen and we'd love to have your help!

One more thing. We are again planning to offer eye and heart health clinics. Your dog does not have to be entered in the show to take advantage of this opportunity; dogs coming for the clinic are allowed onto the show grounds for that purpose. If you are interested please contact Candace O'Connor.

For additional information on the shows, contact Becky Gatterdam.

See you at the May Dog Show!
